Google versus Cuil -- more relevant hits, or simply more hits?

According to CNN, Ex-Googlers launch rival search engine, four ex-employees from Google has created their own search engine that promised more relevant results by indexing more pages. The search engine Cuil was launched on 28 July 2008. The new search engine[e]rs are Anne Patterson, Tom Costello, Russell Power and Louis Monier. They say that Google covers up its inability to index more pages by claiming that many ignored pages are in fact spam pages.
