One of our goals for 2002 is to complete all translations for
Mozilla, hopefully in time for its version 1.0 release early in 2002. Mozilla
uses its own system to define translatable strings while our project has
standardised on the Open Source system of PO files. This standardisation ensures
that translators can focus on translation and not have to learn new tools for
each new program or group of programs.
We have begun to create software that will allow us to translate between
Mozilla and PO translation files. This will allow translators to continue
working using their current translation tools. It will also help us when we
begin translating OpenOffice which has its own translation format. |
