The translation lab is up and running, with ten workstations
completely kitted out for the project. There are fifteen translators currently
working in a part-time and full-time capacity. The lab has been set up in Cape
Town and translators can go in any time which is useful as many of them are
students at the University of Cape Town. The lab runs Linux software and all
the translators are becoming very familiar with the environment - and don't
miss Internet Explorer - in fact, some of them now find the Windows tools
inadequate. What is ironic about this is that many businesses hold fast to the
mantra that the change management involved in moving to Linux is just too
difficult for end users. Either this is a misconception or our translators are
the most exceptional end users we've ever met :-)
