System Administration & Compiling

Translate.org.za runs a number of servers to help our translators, to build our software and to provide some services to other translation teams.  If you can help us keep these shipshape and address any user needs, then that would help us greatly. If you could actually provide these resource then even better!

We have a core set of technologies:
  • Pootle online translation server
  • Translate.org.za software download server
  • OpenOffice.org build servers for Windows and Linux (a Mac would be great)
  • Mozilla Firefox and Thunderbird build server
Some are designed to be outward facing so need to be secure, involve lots of users and chew bandwidth.  Maintaining them requires a certain amount of discipline and commitment.

The build servers are not public, but of course we as Translate.org.za rely on them and can be quite exacting and demanding especially if a deadline is looming.  You get to build two of the meanest Open Source projects on Windows and Linux.  It might be an opportunity to brush up on a few hacking skills and, of course, your C++ skills.
