SA Good News: A keyboard for all SA's languages

Some of South Africa's indigenous languages, such as Venda, have additional characters and diacritical marks that are not used in any other languages. Not using the diacritical marks and extra characters can completely change the meaning of words, which has made electronic communication in the mother tongue of most South Africans extremely difficult.

Now this is set to change. Translate.org.za, a non-government organisation focused on providing open source software in all 11 official languages, has developed a keyboard which can give users access to the distinctive characters needed in the different South African languages.
