Tired of seeing red squiggly marks when you type in your language? The spell checkers developed by Translate.org.za ensure that you can type in your mother tongue without the insulting marks. It is much harder to create spell checkers for South African Nguni group languages (Zulu, Xhosa, Swati, Ndebele) than it is for Afrikaans or Sotho group languages. This relates to the fact that Nguni languags are conjunctive i.e. phrases are made up of parts of words joined together making it very hard to create lists of words since there are so many permutations. Afrikaans, in fact, exhibits a similar problem, but it is not as bad. |
